Player Placement Process
At Colorado Storm, we believe that a single day on the pitch doesn't tell a player's whole story. Serving the entire Front Range, our placement process is designed to find the perfect environment for your athlete to build momentum. We focus on long-term development for all U11–U19 players, ensuring they are placed where they can both contribute and be challenged.
Intent to Play (ITP): Your First Step
The "Intent to Play" registration is your signal to the club that your athlete is ready for the upcoming Fall or Spring season. While this is not a final commitment to the club, it is mandatory for all current and prospective players. Registering ensures you receive critical updates regarding:
Official evaluation dates and locations.
Age-group specific training sessions.
A Holistic Evaluation Philosophy
Storm moves away from the high-stress "tryout" model. We recognize that performance can fluctuate, which is why we utilize Year-Round Evaluation.
For Current Players: Our staff observes your athlete’s progress throughout the entire season, valuing consistency and growth mindset over a single performance.
For New Players: Placement sessions provide a structured, high-energy environment to showcase your skills in front of our professional coaching staff.

National Platform Seasonal Dates
For our U11–U14 athletes in The Academy, NPL, EAL, DPL, and ECNL-RL, the commitment follows a comprehensive 10-month seasonal rhythm (fall & spring seasons). As players enter high school, some platforms use a "split-season" approach. The "split-season" approach is meticulously designed to support the elite athlete’s desire to represent their high school while maintaining a national-standard club environment.
The dates below provide a general overview; teams participate in different tournaments throughout the year, which are announced at the start of each season.
