Supporting Our Colorado Storm Community

At Colorado Storm, we believe every child deserves the chance to play. Soccer is where young athletes build confidence, form lasting friendships, and learn the value of teamwork. Because we know that everyone belongs on the field, we are committed to providing affordable youth sports opportunities for families across the Front Range.

Whether your player is taking their very first steps in our Recreational program or competing at the highest levels on a National Platform, we want to help build their momentum. We strive to remove financial barriers so your family can focus on what truly matters: your child's development and their pure love for the game.

To support our community, Storm provides financial aid and scholarship applications to families who qualify based on demonstrated financial need. Please note that our financial assistance is designed to support core player development throughout the season. Because of this, aid applies directly to league programming and is not applicable to summer camps or seasonal clinics.

Club Scholarships

If you are interested in Financial Aid, the first step is to apply for a Club Scholarship. This is a requirement for all players seeking additional financial support, regardless of age or program level (Recreational, Competitive, or National Platform).

  • Usage: Club Scholarships are applied directly to registration fees within PlayMetrics.

  • Timing: Timely submission is crucial. Applications close automatically after each program's deadline.

  • Mid-Season: Players joining mid-season must contact the Regional Manager or info@coloradostorm.com directly. Due to budget constraints, mid-season aid cannot be guaranteed.

Zarlengo Scholarships

The Zarlengo Endowment lowers barriers for the Latino community, ensuring access to top-tier youth soccer programming.

  • Requirements: You must first apply for Financial Aid via PlayMetrics.

  • Documentation: Qualifying players will be prompted to submit additional documents, such as report cards and a letter of recommendation.

External Scholarships

Colorado Storm has partnered with several external scholarship organizations to help cover additional fees associated with playing soccer, including registration, uniforms, travel, and more. Below is a list of other scholarship opportunities that families can apply for separately.

Allen James Memorial Scholarship

In 2018, the Allan James Memorial Scholarship was announced, in which two scholarships are given to a female and male soccer player in memory of Allan James, with the inaugural recipients receiving the scholarship at the CSA Awards Banquet in January 2019. LoRusso “I Know a Guy” Memorial Scholarship Fund is a Colorado based, family run, nonprofit corporation which provides funding to Colorado soccer players of all ages and development.  The fund was created in 2013 following the passing of Nick J. LoRusso, who was an avid supporter of Colorado soccer. The application process: ANY individual can apply on behalf of ANY player in need. Scholarship deadlines are February 15th and August 15th of each year. The award will be funded 30 days thereafter.

Dicks Foundation Sports Matter Scholarship

Sports Matter

As youth sports started back up after COVID, many kids may not return to play because of costs. The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation is proud to announce a $5,000,000 Sports Matter grant to Every Kid Sports, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, to provide income-restricted families financial assistance to cover registration fees and help ensure every kid has a chance to play.

Note: This scholarship is available exclusively for recreational players.

This organization works specifically with recreational players and families, trying to get more families into sports earlier. Our friends at Every Kid Sports help families cover up to $150 of registration costs per child in a family for recreational programming. Their fall application opens around late June every year.

Fundraising

At Colorado Storm, we understand that youth soccer is an investment in your child’s future. To help manage costs and keep the focus on player development, we welcome individuals and teams to organize fundraisers. Please remember that participation in any team fundraiser is entirely optional. We want every family to feel comfortable and included, regardless of their ability to participate.

Fundraising Guidelines & Best Practices: To ensure that all fundraising efforts are safe, organized, and aligned with our club values, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Communication is Key: Team Treasurers must inform their Regional Manager if the fundraiser intends to use the club’s name or Tax ID.

  • Logo Usage: To protect our brand identity, the Colorado Storm logo may not be printed on any items created for team fundraisers (e.g., t-shirts, banners, or merchandise).

  • Managing Funds: All money raised must be managed directly through the official team account.

  • Authorized Expenses: Funds raised must be used strictly for authorized Colorado Storm soccer costs, such as tournament fees or team travel expenses.
