About

The Colorado Storm U11–U19 Recreational program in South is designed for athletes who want to continue their soccer journey in a supportive, high-energy environment. As players move into their middle school years and beyond, the game evolves into the 9v9 format. This transition is a "sweet spot" in development: the field is large enough to allow for sophisticated team tactics and wide-set play, yet small enough to ensure every player remains a constant part of the action.

At this level, our South teams participate in the Storm Interbranch League, which serves as a vital bridge to the wider Storm community. Players have the opportunity to represent South as they travel to compete against other nearby Colorado Storm regions. This format fosters regional pride and provides a diverse competitive experience, allowing players to test their skills against a variety of styles while remaining within the club's developmental framework.

Our curriculum for the U11–U19 age groups focuses on "Group Tactics"—teaching players how to transition as a unit from defense to attack and how to communicate effectively on the pitch. Led by dedicated Volunteer Coaches and supported by our professional staff, the program prioritizes leadership, sportsmanship, and fitness. Whether your player is aiming for their high school team or simply loves playing with their peers, Storm South provides a local home for them to thrive.

Player Attributes

We focus on the evolution of the individual athlete into a vital component of a strategic unit. Our goal is to develop "collaborative leaders" who prioritize team cohesion, effective communication, and the collective success of the squad.

Through the Storm South Recreational experience, players develop:

  • Collective Game Intelligence: A deeper understanding of team shape, spacing, and transitional play — learning how individual decisions impact the entire unit in the 9v9 system.

  • Team-First Leadership: The ability to communicate clearly, lead by example, and elevate teammates through positive energy and accountability on and off the field.

  • Match-Ready Fitness: Improved stamina, work rate, and physical preparedness to meet the demands of a fast-paced, strategically dynamic game.

  • Role Versatility: Experience playing multiple positions and adapting to different tactical scenarios during Interbranch competition — building a more complete soccer IQ.

  • Competitive Composure: The maturity to compete with intensity while maintaining respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials.

  • Dependability Within the Group: An understanding of responsibility to the squad — showing up prepared, contributing consistently, and strengthening team chemistry through commitment.
