Fall Sparks - Central

Welcome to Sparks (formerly Soccer Start), the premier introduction to the beautiful game for our U4 athletes in the Central Denver community. This program is specifically crafted for our youngest players, focusing on building a foundation of physical literacy, balance, and a genuine love for the ball. At Colorado Storm Central, we believe that for a three or four-year-old, the "game" should be a playground of discovery and excitement set right in the heart of Denver.

The program is structured into a manageable 6-week season in both the Fall and Spring (with summer and winter options to complement the seasons), perfectly tailored to the attention spans and energy levels of toddlers and preschoolers. Each session is led by energetic staff and volunteer coaches who transform technical training into a series of fun, creative games. By using storytelling and imaginative play, we teach players how to move with the ball and develop basic coordination without them even realizing they are "training."

Match play is introduced in the Sparks program and kept small-sided and free-flowing to ensure every child stays engaged. Players will experience 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 formats, maximizing the opportunity for every child to be close to the action. These small numbers mean more goals, more touches, and—most importantly—more smiles. In Central Denver, we aren't worried about positions or scorelines; we are focused on sparking a lifelong passion for soccer in the city.

The Sparks program at Storm Central is open to all children ready to explore movement and play. We focus on developing these "Starting Skills":

• Curiosity: A willingness to try new games and explore how the ball moves.

• Basic Motor Skills: Developing the balance and coordination needed to run, stop, and change direction with a ball.

• Social Discovery: Learning to follow simple directions and interact with new friends in a team setting.

• Effort and Play: Bringing a high level of "recess energy" to every session.

• The "Me and My Ball" Mentality: An emerging interest in keeping the ball close and the excitement of scoring a goal.

• Joy: Coming to the field ready to have fun and represent the Central Denver community for the first time.
