About

Hosted at Storm South, the Winter Footy Academy offers a high-energy, creative training environment designed for players looking to refine their skills and stay active over the winter break. Running December 15th through December 17th from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, this program uses high-repetition exercises to build technical mastery and game confidence.

The camp is open to players from all Colorado Storm regions as well as non-Storm players seeking an engaging winter training touchpoint. Positioned as an accessible skill-building accelerator, it welcomes developmental and competitive athletes across the U8–U11 age groups who are eager to expand their game.

Each session features a structured curriculum that balances foundational technical instruction with creative challenges and small-sided matches. Utilizing the mini pitches at Gates South, players move through specialized rotations that isolate ball mastery, physical coordination, and spatial awareness while maximizing total touches on the ball.

Unlike standard team practices or passive recreational options, Footy Academy combines organized coaching with game-based decision training to keep instruction dynamic and lively. It provides the ideal seasonal supplement for young players looking to elevate their technique, build athletic self-belief, and enjoy the game alongside peers from across the area.

Player Attributes

The Winter Footy Academy delivers an energetic, structured environment grounded in technical development and positive reinforcement. Hosted at Storm South, this welcoming program invites ambitious players from all regions and non-Storm clubs to spend their winter break actively building skill and game understanding. The experience is tailored for growth-minded athletes who respond well to organized coaching, creative challenges, and high-ball-contact activities.

  • Ball Mastery Emphasis: Prioritizes high-repetition footwork and dynamic control drills to develop total comfort with the ball under pressure.

  • Game-Based Decision Training: Uses small-sided formats on mini pitches to help players translate technical execution into quick, practical choices.

  • Ability-Based Grouping: Organizes players by age and skill level within the U8–U11 range to ensure an optimal level of physical and technical challenge.

  • Daily Themed Curriculum: Integrates creative activities and structured competitions that maintain high focus and keep training sessions fresh.

  • Professional Coaching Standards: Led by experienced Colorado Storm staff focused on providing actionable instruction and constructive encouragement.

  • Confidence-Building Focus: Fosters an atmosphere that rewards smart risk-taking, spatial creativity, and active involvement in every play.

  • Skill-Focused Athletes: Serves developing players who want dedicated technical touchpoints during the off-season window.

Together with Colorado Storm and Storm South, this camp creates the energy and momentum players need to spark continuous growth on the field.
