About

Hosted at Storm South, the First Touch Academy offers an engaging, low-pressure introduction to soccer for young athletes who are new to the game or building initial confidence. Running November 17th through November 19th from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, this three-day evening camp focuses on fundamental skill acquisition through fun, age-appropriate activities.

The camp is open to players from all Colorado Storm regions as well as non-Storm players looking for a supportive environment to start their soccer journey. Positioned as an entry-level introduction, it serves beginner and developmental players across the U6–U10 age groups who thrive in an encouraging, high-energy setting.

Each evening session is structured around core building blocks, including dribbling, turning, passing, and shooting. Utilizing the mini pitches at Gates South, coaches guide players through structured rotations and small-sided games that prioritize individual touches, spatial exploration, and immediate success on the ball.

Unlike standard team practices or competitive clinics, First Touch Academy removes performance pressure to focus entirely on foundational mechanics, active play, and enjoyment. It provides the ideal seasonal touchpoint for young athletes to discover a love for the game, build physical coordination, and feel confident moving into future club programming.

Player Attributes

The First Touch Academy delivers a positive, structured environment grounded in foundational technique and constructive coaching. Hosted at Storm South, this welcoming program invites young players from all regions and non-Storm families to spend three evenings developing their skills and self-belief. The experience is tailored for developing beginners who are eager to learn, enjoy interactive games, and respond best to an uplifting athletic environment.

  • Ability-Based Grouping: Organizes players by age and physical comfort within the U6–U10 range to ensure every participant feels secure, supported, and appropriately challenged.

  • High Ball-Contact Training: Maximizes individual touches on compact mini pitches to build comfort and control with the ball at a natural pace.

  • Game-Based Decision Training: Introduces simple small-sided match concepts to help young players understand spatial boundaries and basic team play.

  • Positive Coaching Standards: Led by experienced Colorado Storm staff dedicated to building athletic confidence through encouragement and clear guidance.

  • Fundamental Skill Focus: Teaches core techniques—dribbling, passing, and shooting—using simple, repeatable mechanics to establish strong habits.

  • Developing Beginners: Welcomes new or cautious players who are ready for structured instruction without the stress of competitive league play.

Together with Colorado Storm and Storm South, this camp creates the energy and confidence young players need to begin a lifelong love of the game.
