At Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club, we believe that developing remarkable coaches starts with investing in people—their learning, their experiences, and their individual journeys. Each coach is encouraged to build their own Individual Development Plan (IDP), identifying areas for growth and seeking out opportunities that stretch their thinking and practice. As a club, our role is to support that journey. Whether it’s through our Learning Management System, in-house workshops, or being the #1 club in the country hosting formal U.S. Soccer education, we aim to create an environment where coaches feel both supported and challenged to grow. We also reimburse coaches for education through our Coach Development Agreement. One of the ways we do this is by providing access to nearly the full U.S. Soccer Coaching Education pathway—right here in our own community. From Grassroots to the B License course, our coaches don’t have to look far to find high-quality learning opportunities.Kat Liebetrau is a great example of this in action. She completed her D License course with me last year, and it’s been great to see her continue to lean into her learning, seek out new experiences, and apply those insights back into her coaching environment. Her recent experience with U.S. Soccer is a reflection of what it looks like when a coach takes ownership of their development and continues to grow.Below, Kat shares her reflections from the USWNT Goalkeeping Experience:
