Access to Sport Initiative (A2S)

A2S Introduction

In 2016 Colorado Storm was recognized by the Aspen Institute’s Project Play as one of 20 sport organizations nationwide committed to the principles of ‘Sport for All, Play for Life’. Our commitment to action includes providing quality playing opportunities to kids and communities with traditionally limited access. To support our commitment to impacting our youth, we have created Storm’s ‘Access to Sport Initiative’ or ‘A2S’.

This initiative has been created to provide financial power to our Scholarships, Outreach, and Facilities.

The Colorado Storm Soccer Association believes in the power of sport to positively impact and transform the lives of youth.  Storm is also committed to providing access to sport for youth and communities that are unable to participate in youth sport’s typical high cost, high demand environments.

Some of the proven benefits of youth sport participation include:

  • Physical fitness and a less likelihood of being overweight, obese, or contracting type 2 diabetes
  • Kids who play sports are more likely to exercise as adults
  • Enhanced life and social skills
  • Leadership development, teambuilding and communication skills
  • Reduced stress and depression
  • Increased self-esteem and confidence
  • Higher academic achievement and performance
  • Kids involved in sports are less likely to begin smoking and abuse alcohol/drugs

The ‘Access to Sport Initiative’ ensures that we meet the economic demands of providing these opportunities. Through this initiative our goal is to solicit the support of individuals, organizations, businesses, community organizations, and funders to join us on our quest to positively impact the youth in our communities. This initiative is comprised of three main components: Scholarships, Outreach, and Facilities. Please click on any of the components to learn more about the programs offered.
